Work Introduction Course (W.I.C.) Childcare
What is this course about?
This course will support you in preparing for your next step whether that is further training courses or employment in childcare. The units you will study whilst on this course help you understand more, as well as acquire the knowledge that is needed to care for young children and babies. It will also give you the skills to keep them safe and well, whilst in your care, as well as guiding them allowing them to reach their full potential.
What this course will give you?
Subjects that will be taught include child development, food and nutrition, learning in/from play, caring for sick children and others.
Who is this course designed for?
Those students who have an interest in caring for young children.
What criteria/qualifications do I need to apply?
There are no previous qualifications needed. Although a reference for either a work place, employment or a voluntary role given by someone who has known you for more than 2 years. (Not a relative.)
An Interview will be offered upon receipt of your application form; and where you will be required to complete an initial test in both literacy and numeracy to gain an idea of your present ability.

Work Introduction Course (W.I.C.) Women and Men’s Hairdressing
What is this course about?
An ideal course if you want to work in a hairdressing salon. Topics are orientated towards learning how to cut women’s hair, cutting men’s hair, colouring and lightening of all hair types. The art of dressing hair, styling men’s hair as well as maintaining Health and Safety standards in the salon.
What this course will give you?
Excellent facilities with tutors with up to date industry knowledge and previous self industrial practice with hands-on working experience, with vast knowledge of quality commercial products and this enables students to be well prepared for the hairdressing industry and the road to employment.
Who is this course designed for?
Anyone considering a future career in hairdressing. Included in this course is practical salon experience for one day per week from January (Spring Term).
What criteria/qualifications do I need to apply?

Work Introduction Course (W.I.C.) Construction and the Building of Environments Course.
What is this course about?
Our Construction and the Building of Environments course that we offer is a very specialised course and being allied alongside our membership academy we have designed it especially for those wishing to make a difference in the world, however small. We will make use of outside contacts, the experiences of guest speakers and industry orientated presentations tours and outings alongside our other more customary student trips to enhance your time; and really, bring your course alive for you.
What this course will give you?
On our Construction and the Building of Environments course will see you progress and learn a specialism of your choice or just give you a taste of several distinct areas within the construction industry that you had never, before experienced, and provide you with the opportunity to consider all options available and allow you to make a fully informed decision on your future choice.
Who is this course designed for?
Those students who have an interest in forms of construction and the environments surrounding building projects.
What criteria/qualifications do I need to apply?
A level 2 qualification plus A* to C in English, Mathematics and IT.

What is this course about?
On this Nursing W.I.C. you will study a broad range of concepts as part of the applied science;

Students will also study and gain qualifications in Mathematics and English GCSE.
What this course will give you?
This course is designed to help achieve a learner’s ambition, whether that plan is to go on to higher level of study or start building a long career. Employability and study skills will be included throughout to help develop the broader skills required by healthcare industry. They are designed to meet local and national employer needs.
Students will learn how to behave appropriately during working hours, patient care, an introduction into health and social care and put the theoretical practice learnt in class to practice during placement opportunities at local health care establishments.
Who is this course designed for?
Anyone who wishes to pursue a career in nursing, then this is the ideal course for you! Included in this course is practical hospital and health care industry experience for one day per week from November 2017 to April 2018.
What criteria/qualifications do I need to apply?
To ensure entry onto this course you will need to develop your present skills and knowledge before progressing onto Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 of this Work Introduction Course in Nursing.
